But as a Loan Committee member, you should hold them all hostage until they agree that
only coal-burning steam engines should be allowed on the line. IMHO, standardization
is the best way to keep costs down, and IIRC there are at least two, maybe three, Van
Schweringen Brothers 2-8-4's in operating - or at least near-operating - condition.

* IIRC, the Van Schweringen (sp?) Brothers at one time controlled the C&O, Nickel Plate and Pere Marquette railroads. The coal-burning 2-8-4's built for these three lines in the 1940's - most of them by Lima - were essentially all of the same design, and were among the finest steamers ever constructed. IIRC, there are at least two surviving - but not restored - 2-6-6-6's if some really BIG coal-burning power is required
