early (1871 4-wheel) & 1873 era freight drawings

Hi,

I took the NG&SLG c1975 drawings of the early 1871 D&RG construction equipment (17' flat & gon), the later 1871 D&RG freight equipment (14' box, flat, gon), and the 1873 D&RG 2-truck freight equipment (flat, gon, box, ventilated box [forunner of the reefer], stock [cattle]) and made some rough scale drawings.

The construction flats were apparently configured as both flat cars and gondolas. These 17' cars did not have any house car styles. Two 17' flats could be used to haul 30' lengths of rail and remained coupled.

The 14' cars had 10 box cars. I have not read of any other types.

I was considering 24' tank (water) cars and think it would be a flat car with wooden tanks much like the water tanks along the line for steam locos - two per car, smaller and shorter (of course).

I offer them as free for personnal use - not for commercial use (that's one reason they are not 100% complete yet). Please do not redistribute them.

I do not know if anyone is interested, but here they are (the ventilated box and the stock car are rough guesses):
