The "steering wheel" normally operated the brakes. These Fordson conversions were fairly popular in the woods of the Pacific Northwest, usually for hauling shingle bolts. The Motor Appliance Corporation (MAC), a division of Skaget Iron and Steel, made many of them for use on either light steel and wooden rails. Some of them drove only with the rear wheels, as with the one at Mt. Rainier, but most had side rods connecting with the front wheels.
