There are remains of two Chili Line cisterns that I have located on my trips to scout out the line. One is at Barranca (round shape); the second is Taos Jct (square shape) about 100 yards down the La Madera Branch and slightly uphill from the Chili Line main. At Taos Jct water cars were spotted to fill the cistern which supplied water for the column on the Chili Line. The water column was subsequently moved to either Sublette or Cumbres following abandonment of the line according to postings by Jerry Day. The Barranca cistern, I assume, was used for local needs or pumped to tenders as there was no column or tank at that station.
