Thank you for the photos. An interesting find!
Maybe because of the angles of the photographs it does look different from the C&C application and these builder's photos (below) of a F&CC caboose and boxcar.
Turns out there were also some patents for similar but different concepts by other people. It turns out that the coupler pocket at NSRM Carson City may be one of these -- a "Woodward."
