Interesting. that looks to be the Eilers-Leadville strech being removed. I've always seen that listed (For Ex: "Rio Grande to the Pacific" pg 151) as 1940. I wonder if that represents the lag time between the work being completed (12/23/38 by the AFE) and it being recorded in some other source later used by Mr. LeMassena in preparing RGTTP?

A short history from D&RGW Condensed Profile:

Malta to Leadville:
Built NG in 1880.
3-rail Eilers to Leadville in 1888.
3-rail Malta to Eilers in 1890
SG Malta to Eilers in 1925.
3rd rail between 273.00 (Eilers) and 276.02 (Leadville) removed in 1940.
