Getting back to the original discussion......why couldn't additional buildings be constructed in a historically sympathetic style. The ongoing operational needs of the railroad shouldn't be completely dismissed because something isn't historically 'correct'. The ballon loop in Antonito isn't historically correct and neither is the proposed loop in Chama. However, both are needed in order to improve operations. The loop at Osier is the same. A new carbarn could be modern all metal construction and skinned in wood to provide a nod history. I've seen this done elsewhere and it seems to maintain the historic fabric while addressing operational needs.
I know - I'm naive.
