"Capitol": A building or set of buildings where a state legislature meets, and when capilized anywhere in a sentence, the place where the US Congress meets.

"Capital": Among its many defintions, this word refers to matters of finance. (It also refers to the location of a state capitol.) The word derives from the Latin caput, which means both `head' and `money laid out'.
