63 years ago today (20 Feb 1949), the last revenue train ran from Colorado Springs to Cripple Creek and return on the Midland Terminal railroad. 2-8-0 #59 ran with a caboose to Bull Hill, on the east side of the District and picked up 31 cars, some loaded, some empty. 2-8-0 #60, the District switcher was on the head end with #59 cut in ahead of the caboose for the last trip to Colorado Springs. From Divide to the Springs, the train was the very last revenue run not only on the MT, but on what was originally Colorado Midland track as well.
Sic transit gloria mundi.
