Yeh, with all the rotten ties, telephone poles and cross arms strewn about the road bed it's a wonder they didn't have more derailments.spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
Seriously though the scenery is really great along the old SVRy especially when everything is green and the wild flowers in bloom. Also I shot some photos of antelope not far from McCoy. In the old days however, the scenery may have been less enticing as the rails passed through miles and miles of recently logged forest. Obviously the area nearer to the first timber outside of Baker City was the first to be logged in the 1890's and probably looked pretty good by the 1930's 40's. I seem to recall the cover of an early time table with the slogan on the front "Scenic Line of Eastern Oregon".
