My remarks, Steve, are not an expression of bias, but of reality. Assuming that one of those 2'-gauge Garratts made it here, you would be hard-pressed to find a place to run it. Either the infrastructure would not handle it or the proposed host railroad would find it incompatible with their stated preservation and interpretation goals. Of course, if you had had the bling to buy, transport, and restore such a locomotive, you'd probably also have the wherewithal to build a railroad at a place of your choosing.

Me? I'd much rather see a standard-gauge Garratt meet up with UP #3985 just about anywhere you name.

And, yes, a QJ us a wonderful piece of machinery, just as it comes off the boat, wings and all!
