That stock car (number escapes me right now) was purchased by the D&S from Scenic Rys when they liquidated thier assets in Chama in 1982. In the fall of 1981 we filmed in Chama a PBS film called "The Ballad Of Gregorio Cortez" which used the named stock car, 053, 489, a flat and 0503. "TPRR" was "Texas Pacific". 053 kept its TPRR paint until its recent restoration.
I got a giggle out of seeing it in the museum in Silverton. There is another former Scenic stock car on the D&S with end doors, bench seats and a side slat removed for viewing the scenery. It was part of the Scenic "2nd section" that ran on over capacity days in the late 70's using the helper for power on a Cumbres - Sublette round trip. Other cars used were the famous "Tahoe Gon" (now the open car in Antonito) 3 - 1/2 converted box cars (2 now at the Rio Chama RV Camp, the other became a snack car) and caboose 05635.
