Lex,
From what I've seen, both in photos and on Cumbres and Durango lines; The tall stands with 18" round target are the norm out along the line. Red was displayed for turnouts from the main, and yellow was used for turnouts from a secondary line.
In yards, where clearence was tighter, shorter stands were used as needed. This also appears to be where the green diamonds were used.
Green diamond or nothing at all, ment the switch was aligned straight ahead. Red or yellow ment it was aligned for the turnout.
The fork for the lamp was a bolt on piece that fit on the spike on top of the shaft. The lamp had red/green or yellow/green lenses to correspond with the target colors.
