There is mention of it in Dorman's _Rio Grande Southern, an Ultimate Picture Story_, both vols 1&2 with photos of the wreck and picking up the 40. Josie Moore Crum tells the story in her _The Rio Grande Southern Railroad_ with dates and details, but she got the engine order wrong, saying that 40 was helping 20 when it was the other way around. Photos show the proper order of things. I'm sure it will be chronicled in Vol 9 of the _Rio Grande Southern Story_.
