Built for industrial purposes - transport of wood and charcoal for metallurgical works in the towns Alapaevsk, Verhnaya Sinyachikha and Susan. Half of all the main lines and branches in the forests was closed from 1991 to 2008. The railroad now goes to several small villages in the sparsely populated forest areas, these villages do not have a permanent highways.
Passenger train alone, and runs three times a week: on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. It goes from Alapaevsk at 19:30 and arrives at the station Sankino at 01:10, on the way from him uncouping cars which follow on the branches - to Garaninka and Berezovka. At the 01:20 train departs back from Sankino and arrives to Alapaevsk at 07:00. There is also a train Sankino - Kalach (01:11-03:50).
