I don't know why, but this reminds me of a "fantasy" I used to entertain myself with as I made the long weekend drives from Lorain, OH to the ORM down in Worthington.
I would visualize a future when turnpikes were a thing of the past. Turnpike enthusiasts had managed to acquire the last surviving segment of the Ohio Turnpike. The point of entry was a restored toolbooth of course. Patrons could choose to cruise the pike in one of a variety of restored automobiles, greyhound buses or Mack trucks. A variety of restored MOW vehicles would be judiciously spotted along the route. And of course there would be the occasional highway patrol car randomly stopping cars and soliciting additional donations for pet projects. The destination was a restored HoJo's complete with a 1950's era restaurant and souvenir store.
OK, I was bored
