Pics of C&S 1008 - New Home

Hi All -

Here are pictures of C&S Caboose 1008 situated at Richard Farmer's (Gwenloco) home/shop. Admittedly, these are kind of hard to look at, and we're feeling challenged at this point.

The best news so far is that the basic condition of the sil beams (other than the ends), floor, a good portion of the framing, and the still-remaining interior wood, seem good enough after first examination to attempt the operating restoration we intend.

But how this really goes will be an adventure. A decision has to be made, piece by piece, of how much of the historic fabric can be preserved, reused and/or reinforced, or simply replaced. Our going-in policy is that the existing body parts must not just serve as templates to build a completely new replica (not as worthwhile an effort, in our view).
