Silverton Northern Caboose 1005 comes home

The Silverton Northern's caboose 1005 (D&RG 17 and SR 17) came home today to Silverton after a 10 year stay on a flatcar in the Durango yard. The flatcar was pulled out of its resting place and moved to the baloon track where the car body was rolled off the flat car on to Glenn McKnight's waiting tilt bed truck. Glenn then arrived in Silverton about noon and the car was quickly unloaded for temporary storage immediately in back of the SN engine house. The society has received a grant from the Colorado Historical Society to begin work on the car's restoration. Pictures of today's arrival are here:
