At some time, the question of the C&TS (ex-D&RGW) 6500 series steel flats came up and I seem to recall that Earl fought the Commision unsuccessfully to keep one type of the flat unchanged.
It's too bad one type of each can not be saved.
Of course, in 1946, there were about 8 K-27's, 3 K-28's, 10, K36s, and 10 K37s. Through the efforts of many, we have 2 K-27s, 3 K28s, 9 K36s, and 8 K37s.
Likewise all EBT 2-8-2s still exist and a siginificant amount of 2' stuff is still here.
For comparison, in 1946, PRR had about 390 I-1 2-10-0's. Only one remains today!
Thanks to all those who saved the narrow gauges (EBT, SV, WP&Y, etc).
