Chris, what is the point? Methinks you may have an ax to grind with the management company???

Playing the blame game doesn't get the bridge fixed. If you expect the management company has some obligation to go over the right-of-way with a fine tooth comb to find a single errant cinder, you are asking for a level of perfection beyond all reason. The train is followed by the fire car, and that seems to me to be a responsible, reasonable, and prudent response by the operating company to the risk of fire. It is not possible to make life entirely risk-free. Likewise, assuming that the fire was discovered in the middle of the night early in the fire, how fast do you think you could get the railroad fire truck crew out of bed, in the truck, and up th hill--and still save the bridge?

Do you think the management company has the resources to repair/replace the bridge? You're talking about Starvation Central in Chama. Any significant repairs/replacement to the bridge are going to take a quantum infusion of cash, and that can come from only one source: the two states, through the Commission. The states don't fund the operating company; they fund the Commission, which in turn pays the operating company and otherwise distributes the resources it has been given. So if you think the operating company is floating in a sea of cash with which to repair the trestle, I think you may be badly mistaken.

A certain amount of distress over the fire and its causes is probably to be expected But then you need to get over it and move on. There is a point when rational anger begins to look like you are just spoiling for a fight. That may end up getting you sent to your bedroom without supper!
