I have a passing interest in Railroad and Steamship chinaware, including some pieces I use every day. Watch out, such interests can become addictive if left unchecked.
Anyway, in a couple places I’ve noticed that the Uintah Rly had marked chinaware. The CRRM may even have some? Here’s a current website listing a plate for sale. [
caribouantiques.com]. And I found an auction house that listed a Uintah milk pitcher.
I’ve never owned the Uintah Rly book, so is there anyone here who knows why the railroad would need customized chinaware. It was a pretty small mining line so I highly doubt they ran dining cars, so maybe for official use? I assume Uintah china is relatively rare, and off hand I’ve never seen silverware.
Just curious,
Ralph
PS. Whoops, stand corrected about the silverware. I just found an auction house that lists a Uintah silver plated fork.
