Como May 15

Along with the arrival of the 1927 built 20-Ton Plymouth from Oregon, May 15 saw the departure of 12-Ton Plymouth diesel No. 5 from Como. No. 5 was used to do some switching moves around the yards before it departed;


Klondike Kate was separated from her tender and moved to over the inspection pit in stall 3 of the roundhouse. Kate will receive some running gear work this year and being over the pit will make this easier.

Kate's tender was placed on a radial track to facilitate some truck/brake work.


No. 5 was used to bring the newly arrived 20-Ton Plymouth from its unloading point to the roundhouse. The trip covered pretty much the entire current length of the railroad, from the south end of the "Gunnison Main" north to the depot and then back south to the turntable.


The 20-Ton was placed inside stall 5 of the roundhouse. In s straight line, the locomotive moved about 100 feet from where it was unloaded off the truck, it covered the better part of a quarter mile of track in doing so.
