(1) On all the pictures of 493, I note the front bottom edge of the pilot plow has a seemingly silver, or stainless steel edge along the entire bottom of the plow. Is this something added because the other bottom was toast, or as a means of strengthening the plow. I don't recall ever seeing that before, but I haven't seen any fresh out of the box before also. Sorry if this question was already asked.
(2) I just realized there are 2 things I really like about the appearance of the 493. One is the clean front smokebox area of a freshly shopped D&RGW engine, and the second is the lack of a stack cinder cover. Can I assume no stack cover will be needed due to it burning oil?
493 seems to be running quite well.
