As I recall, this was answered on the old BBS and so was lost.
Maybe one of those there at the time can better answer.
There many differences between the bill of sale between the C&TS and the D&RGW, Among which one of the 6500 series bulk head flats was to be transferred to the C&TS. How everything got settled I do not know, but the C&TS ended up with stuff not on the bill of sale and did not get stuff that was on the bill of sale.
As I recall, the idea that some equipment was scattered around the system so a "final" steam run would be needed Alamosa to Farmington and back. This did not occur and some cars were swapped around as compensation. I'm sure the Red Devil was compensated somehow.
