East Broad Top tours this summer

March 13, 2019 07:48PM
Hey there! We've received permission to offer public tours of the East Broad Top's historic roundhouse and machine shops again this summer. We'll start out with four dates -- Saturday, June 8; Saturday, July 20; Saturday, August 10; and Sunday, September 1. Tours will start at 11 a.m. and last about 90 minutes, and they’ll be led by volunteers from the Friends of the East Broad Top. The cost will be $10 per person (bring cash -- there are no credit-card machines in the roundhouse) for anyone over age 12. Persons 12 and under are free, but keep in mind that this is a detailed, history oriented, 90-minute tour. (Translation: It is not meant for kids, unless the kid in question is a serious, devoted railfan.) Please make sure everyone in your party wears clothes that can stand up to a little roundhouse grime, and closed-toed shoes with sturdy soles. Also, because each tour is limited to 25 people, you'll need to reserve your space by emailing Lawrence Biemiller (biemiller@mac.com).

Keep in mind that after your visit, you can visit our friends at the Rockhill Trolley Museum and take a trolley ride along a portion of the EBT's former Shade Gap Branch. Feel free to share this post as you see fit. We look forward to seeing you at the EBT!
