Unfortunate

It is unfortunate that a discussion resulted in a harsh exchange between myself and Greg Coit. I think we both wrote words that we regret.

Want to share my feelings with the list. I first became interested in the D&RGW narrow gauge in 1955 when I was in high school. Over the years I was extremely fortunate to meet and become good friends with a number of my narrow gauge idols...Dick Kindig, Otto Perry, Bob Richardson, Jack Thode, John Maxwell, and others. They shared their photos and information with a young kid and later young man, they encouraged me to photograph, to research, and to publish. My first railroad article was a short history of D&RGW MOW OA-OZ in 1972 and was done at the direct suggestion of Bob Richardson. I asked him if there was a book or article on the subject. He said "No why don't you write it?" Since that first suggestion I have written over 35 magazine articles, several books, and am in the process of doing two or three more.

These greats of D&RGW/RGS history shared so much with me that I have always felt an obligation to share what I have and what I can photograph. I am very fortunate to live where I do and to have the access to both railroads that I have been given. It is my desire to share what I can.

Tomorrow morning, the D&S will resume service to Silverton. It is my understanding that one of the trains will be a 14 car double-header powered by 473 and 476 (K28s have always been my favorites). I will be out there bright and early.
