Hi Chris,
Viewers might like to know that the second view of the Stanton Quarry, where you showed the rock face of the quarry, was the first quarry attempted and it was quickly abandoned. The stone was not of proper ganister, so several much larger quarries were built north of this location. The ganister was much better in the other quarries and they became actual workings served by a 30 ton Climax, and a saddle tank engine and steam powered shovel. Water was the big problem, and it had to be piped up the hill from Farmer's Smith property.
Thanks for the nice views. Good Camera.
Anyone know where the Climax came from? It was scrapped there by someone who cut in up in day time and hauled in out under darkness, all later found to be stolen by the company.
