The man behind the engine is Harry Johnson. He built 1/2 dozen engines of various wheel arrangements including a 2 truck shay plus a steam traction engine. He worked as a boilermaker in his youth and was stone deaf. The 4-6-6-4 in the photo weighed 6 1/2 tons. His rail was channel iron on edge. My son supervising on the right. JP
