Howdy again,
Thank you everyone for your interest regarding our post on the Historic Car Project! Due to the lively discussion that generated, I would like to update everyone on the progress we have been making on locomotive 168 as well. Since our last update, most of the tender riveting has been completed, making the total almost 2500 rivets thus far! At this time, the last deck panel remains to be riveted, as well as the filler neck and a couple additional brackets and rear coal board. Complete at this time are the water valves at the front of the water legs, coal doors, hold down brackets and most of the assorted hand rails, etc. The time is drawing near that this tank will be set on the already rebuilt tender frame and running gear. Shortly, the FOCTS will be rehabilitating the wooden cab for us using drawings prepared by Jim Booth, as attention in Antonito will soon turn to the running gear of the engine itself. All of us here at CATS are very excited about this project and we hope that you find this interesting as well. Help support the effort and donate at:

And as always, come visit us in CATS country and see for yourself. Until then...
