C&TS - August 1982 - in Black & White

To avoid having to plow through the old thread, here are a few black and white shots I made on a round trip to Antonito and back on August 3&4, 1982.

car 213 dynamiting - cut out at Cumbres.

Train #4 CLTD (Colorado Limited)
Engine 488 - Fischer
11 cars - 450 dynamiting at Sublette - cut out.

Run Sublette to Antonito

out 530pm

8 1/2 hrs

Right piston rod packing leaks
L. injector hard to start.

Next morning charging out of Antonito. At that time, the speed limit from Antonito to MP 286 was 22mph. We went right to the limit. Felt like we were flying...



Russ at the throttle of 488, tearing it up west of Antonito. Hooked up to about 2 notches from center. His fireman has the water a inch below the top of the glass. It doesn't get much better than this..........



Passing Toltec Siding. In the distance you can see the flat cars that were later hauled back with 495. Ahead of them, is the section gang waiting for us to clear.
