Following is a D&RGW order to the conductor of a Santa Fe branch cleanup train run on September 5, 1941.
There are many other documents showing the abandonment of the branch, the disposition of materials and equipment. The ice box at Taos Junction for example was sent by flat car to Durango for use in the freight house. A number of documents relate to movement of the agents house hold goods. The agent at Taos Junction transferred to Marshall Pass, the agent at Santa Fe transferred to Pagosa Junction, the agent at Espanola transferred to Creede.

You should have ten open end coal cars and ten or fifteen wooden flat cars out Alamosa for Santa Fe. Also several Santa Fe branch loads, including two gas for Taos Junction, two peddler merchandise, six canned goods, one or two loads push cars for Santa Fe. Spot loads where they can be unloaded.
Traveling Auditor and Traveling Agent will look after freight charges.
On arrival Santa Fe, spot as many canned goods for Illfelt Supply Company as their track will hold. Spot the flat cars and all open end coal cars at Santa Fe on Monero Fuel Company spur so can drop cars in order to load the open end cars from one end. Place balance these cars on the old house track opposite section tool house. Mr. Peak will arrange call to leave Santa Fe when Illfelt’s cars released. We want to move all steel now loaded and the other equipment out of Santa Fe that is not needed for steel loading. Place your engine where Engine Watchman can shovel coal from the car now on hand at Santa Fe. Move car 3009, household goods for Pagosa, 3121 and 3488, station furniture for Burnham, all box cars, three refrigerators, one empty dump, all steel loaded out of Santa Fe. Waybills for all loads, except steel, is in passenger depot.
At Espanola pick up RG 33, company furniture and supplies for Burnham. RG 3683, Agent’s house hold goods for Creede. Pickup all empty box cars at Espanola and Chamita. Pick up empty tanks, Agent’s house hold goods and office furniture at Taos Junction. Waybills in freight room. Double Embudo to Barranca moving house hold goods, company furniture, steel, and empties.
