Stan: Last summer, at the CRRM, I looked at some the valuation documentation for the D&RG west of Antonito. In 1918 the ties were 7" x 8" x 6.5'. Believe it or not, as part of the valuation process, they counted and listed how many of each type of wood the ties were. They were listed as being either Pine or Spruce.
