Cold and brisk, some clouds, some wind. 570 people out of Chama. 21 cars. 463, 497, 489. The train roared out of Chama 40 minutes late after loading late passenges, adding cars, and getting water. Standing by the engine, Frank announced he was going to the rear. Earl asked if he was taking his lunch. I haven't seen such a long train this year, except the freight special.
Not so many cars on the road, but the usual madness. I skipped The Narrows, vaulted the fence (Gee, I can still DO that!) at Lobato, and caught the ritual at the bridge. IMHO, the BEST shot on the west side is around highwy MP 7-8 where you look UP at the train for a short stretch. Skipped the second crossing and made for Cresco, where the train would probably highball through, which it did.
Listen to the videos!
These days I resemble a Japanese tourist. A video cam, a digital (DO NOT buy a Kodak dc3400) a 35mm Nikon with a zoom, and a 120 size Fuji 6x9 90mm.
I hope the film shots are as good as the digital.
A great day!
Word has it that we may have another triple next week.
