It behoves all of us who what to see passenger RR survival to write every congressman and Senator, Federal and State regarding funding for AMTACK. Most difficult is the 2003 cut off for funding. AMTACK must be regarded (in my opinion) as a public service provider rather than a profit center, and be supported as the National roads and airports are supported. Ridership on crosscountry rail is up almost 20% after 9-11 while eastern corridor is about 12%. There is a need - we must demonstrate it.
