I'm working on the history of the Gainesville Midland RR. Along with two others who saw it in operation, we are going to write a book. My history term paper (posted on the net) is the beginnings of the historical section. I have many notes that did not fit into the term paper that I am reviewing looking for more nuggets.
The Gainesville Midland RR and Rwy, the Gainesville Jefferson and Southern, the Chestatee RR, the Gainesville & Northwestern, the Walton RR, and the Monroe RR, are all interrelated to the GM.
I know the GM and the GJ&S were narrow gauge and had a narrow gauge pile driver. The total milage was abotu 47 miles of 3' gauge. The Walton was 5' then narrowed to 3' for about a year before merged into the GJ&S.
I am interested in anyone with photos or other information on these railroads. Please contact me back channel.
Thanks in advance.
