SVRy ALCO's Twin in S. America

January 19, 2009 05:05PM
Recently on the Colonial & Latin American Narrow Gauge Yahoo Group a photo titled "FC Lima - Lurin #71" was posted. I found this photo very interesting since it is nearly a twin to the ALCO mikados that were built for the SVRy.

There are a few differences like the steam dome & Bell placement and location on the air pump(s) but the two are nearly the same, right down to the tenders and the "short" pilot spokes that I always thought was a SVRy creation. This photo seems to show that it was an ALCO idea.

Does anyone else know anything about this SVRy "Twin".
