A small addendum..... the two VT&S heavy 2-6-6-2s were sold to the SP and were operated by them for several years.

That whole mountain under Jerome is hollow from the mining. There's a scale drawing of the underground works in the museum there. I can't help but think that it's just a matter of time before the mountain opens up and swallows Jerome whole.
