SP 4449 has both a horn and a whistle. Does anyone know if whistles were installed on the other GS engines, or was this a one of a kind installed by Doyle?
As a boy growing up near the SP, I remember that at least some of the cab-forwards had horns. Does anyone know if all the cab-forwards had only horns, or did some have both whistles and horns, or if some of the classes had only whistles?
Last, does anyone have any insight as to why the SP put these abominations (air horns) on some of their locomotives?
