I was involved with restoring a few 1920's motorcycles, way back in one of my careers. And the criteria for adding modern technology was, if it shows NO, if it can be disguised YES. The old scoop and splash oiling systems worked, but were incredibly inefficient after 10K miles on the unit, so to add an oil pump, pressure regulator, usually noticeable, had to be either hidden and or disguised, and if it couldn't got crossed out of our plan. So guys, if 20's front truck and smokebox were changed and cobbled together by the money strapped RGS shops, then it's prototype for the era. Problems occour when we want to model or restore to an era where pictures and opinions are very thin to none. In that case you have to restore to the era of your wishes and suffer the slings and arrows of those who wonder why you did that. I assume Linn that you're restoring to the wishes of CRRM, because they're paying the bill.
