What a wonderful collection of photos!
Paticularly the ones that show the passengers and various stations along the line that are long gone.
Particularly interesting to me because about a year before these photos were taken (1949) my grandmother (mother's side) rode this train to be with my mother in Durango when my younger brother
was born.
She rode from Fowler, Colorado, about 30 miles east of Pueblo on
the AT&SF, changed trains at Pueblo U.D. to the D&RGW, rode it to
Alamosa via Walsenburg/LaVeta Pass, then changed to the narrow
gauge San Juan for the rest of the trip to Durango.
She then retraced her route home after my little bro. and Ma were doing OK.
She said later that it was "quite an adventure"...
I'll bet it was indeed!
