The side sheets on the SP&S 700 couldn't have split out because the hydro was pumped to almost 200% of operating pressure, could it?
From the reports that I got from some people who were on-site, the SP&S 700 boys were tryung to show that their Baldwin was of superior construction to the 4449 when it went. I heard it sounded like a gigantic zipper when it let go.
A cold water hydro simply means that the water is not heated enough to make steam.
Actually, all it is is water pumped under pressure. We have used cold water a number of times and never had a problem. Of course, it's not ice water either...
