Re: Crown Metal Works/How Many 36"

The owner of this website has assured me that a little parktrain talk here is not unwelcome, so I will answer Earl and Kevin where all can see.
Legend City #1 (Phoenix, AZ) probably was the first 36" Crown built. As of three or four years ago, it was believed stored in the El Paso, TX area since it was believed bought by a park there which supposedly went belly up. Roger Netz (you probably know him, Earl) sent me a photo and an audio tape of it after the valves were re-set. With the Big Boy whistle, it's hard to tell it from a small standard gage engine just listening to it.
The engine on the Old Hickory RR in Jackson, LA, I believe, came from Frontierland in Cherokee, NC. As of 1996, restoration had progressed to where it could move on compressed air. I would assume it is running by now. If you can find any more on it, Kevin, I would appreciate knowing.
Although a complete list, description, and pictures of 36" Crowns will eventually appear on the Parktrains website, here is a synopsis of where I think they are now:
Busch Gardens, Tampa, FL - 4 engines
Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, VA - 3 engines
Kings Island, Cincinnati, OH - 2 engines
Fort Fun, Bestwig, Germany - 1 engine
Six Flags St. Louis, MO - 1 engine
Worlds of Fun, Kansas City, MO - 1 engine
Omaha Zoo - 1 engine (30" gage)
Old Hickory RR, Jackson, LA - 1 engine
Jefferson and Cypress Bayou RR, Jefferson, TX - 1 engine
Camp Dry Gulch religious retreat, Adair, OK - 1 engine
Michael Jackson's (private) Neverland Ranch, California - 1 engine
Somewhere around El Paso, TX ?? - 1 engine (stored?)
Huntsville, AL, Depot Museum - 1 engine (display)
Near Coca-Cola Building, Atlanta, GA - 1 engine (display)
Unknown location - 1 engine (2-6-2 built on Porter 0-6-2T chassis). Last known to have been in Largo, MD and Sandusky, OH in mid 1980's. Possibly in California now.
21 engines built, possibly 17 of them still running... not a bad record.
