Locomotive speed

On a flat and fairly straight strech of track without too big a train, how fast could a _______ go?

I read in a book that on the White Pass one of their 70 class pulled a train up the hill from Skagway and made the trip to Whitehorse in just over two hours I think. thats pretty fast for 110 miles.
I could be wrong but would like to know the speeds for the D&RGW to compare.
