Help sought for 0579 Restoration

During the Friends worksession ("C") during the week of August 6-10, we will again be working on the 0579 short caboose in Antonito. If any of you are interested in helping, please send me email drgw0579@home.net. We need 8 volunteers to help with various brake system and roof tasks (for a complete list see the url below).
Our plan is to have 0579 available for use during the 2004 season. In order to achieve this goal, we're going to have to step up the progress. We have competed the majority of frame and roof repairs, now the high priority is to re-engineer the brake system!
Working in Antonito is different than Chama, we have a dedicated restoration facility which allows us to stay out of the railroad's way. There are several options for overnight stay, and we usually have a "pizza night" where we do an impromptu railfan presentation. Sometimes the weather is hot, but the pace is such that taking a siesta is not out of the question during the heat of the day. We also have more train activty than Chama.
