Dan, I have only read about your beautiful locomotive & now I may have another chance to see her in action. I am so glad the FRA gave you a waiver, but as you mention they did so because of your extraordinary efforts to safely maintain the Eureka. Whether it is the FAA granting a waiver for an antique airplane or the FRA making an exception for an historic locomotive, it becomes the responsiblity of the person seeking the waiver to demonstrate the agency exercised good judgement. When government agencies make exceptions to their regulations & an accident occurs because they granted the exception, the agency is held accountable & simply will never allow any future waivers. The FRA's decision reflects their confidence & faith in you. Thanks for your efforts!
