David Conrad's work The Steam Locomotive Directory of North America (1988) has a listing under Texas of a 2-6-2+2-6-2 "Beyer-Garratt" type locomotive. The listing is under Hempstead, Texas, and the owner is said to be a Mr. Robert Bucher.
The engine is 24" gauge and is listed as being built in 1928 by Hanomag. It was South African Railways #50 in South Africa.
The same owner is listed as having a 24" 2-8-2 #18 built in 1931 by Henschel & Sohn for South African Railways.
NO INFORMATION AS TO CURRENT STATUS.
