Bob,
I don't know how bad the crack is or where it is located on 315.
On GLR 40, there was a crack in the cylinder casting that was able to be welded and fixed.
If it's in the cylinder bore and not incredibly bad, the cylinder can be sleeved. Metal parts by nature wear out with loads and pressure.
Anything is fixable and possible with enough talent, time, and money.
