I would agree that it isn't much of a switchback. Some of the literature does refer to it as a switchback though. You guys got me to wondering about how things looked up by the mine so I went through the process of doing an overlay. I have updated the map with the approximate location of the line up by the mine. I also added the SG loop which is drawn in blue. Note that the valuation map shows a couple more spurs below the main spur drawn on the map.
