I think that some of the hotel WYFI setups are not up to the number of users trying to access at the same time.
I was recently in Carson City, Nevada, for the Nevada State RR Museum's annual history symposium. I was staying at an independent motel/hotel that is trying to be up-scale. In fact, there were a good number of attendees staying at this place.
A number of us noticed problems. The signal strength varied up and down. We would log onto the motel's system and then sometimes could not connect with the outside world. Other times, it would unexpectedly drop the connection while the signal strength was good or better. Then when I would go for "repair" of the connection my computer often could not obtain an IP address.
Several of us found that we could get and maintain a connection by going on-line either early in the morning or mid-day when there were few users in the motel.
Now this evening I'm at a Motel 6 that uses choicewireless for its service. And I'm having no problems.
